i still have the same problem with ypserv dying every time a client
makes a querry. recompiling the package on my system makes it work
just fine. since other people were having the same problem i made my
package available by anonymous ftp at:

  caliban.lgl.gov:/pub/debian/i386/nis_3.4-1_i386.deb

i have no idea why my package is working.
