FYI
Authoritative opinion would, I think, be welcomed by OTB devs.
Thanks.

Summary: Please add licences
Description:
Several libs come without a licence; this is a blocker for some OSs, most
notably Debian. Please add them. If this can be done very soon, there
is till a
chanche of having OTB in next Debian stable, thus also on all Debian
derivatives, without extra work.

You can use licensecheck in the package "devscripts" to check which
licenses are used and update the debian/copyright file.

https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/

Ftpmaster found *several other* files with licenses / copyright which
are not
mentioned in debian/copyright. This needs to be fixed before we could
upload
again. The code copies would be acceptable to some extent if there
would be no
way around - if and only if their copyright would be properly specified.

So somebody needs to go down the list which can be obtained by

    licensecheck -r *

Ready to help if necessary.

Thanks.

Looking at
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-grass/otb.git/tree/debian/control

Another idea is to ignore some third party libs from Utilities/*
Some of them are not used at all.

Utilities/otbossim - libossim-dev
Utilities/otbopenthreads - libopenthreads-dev
Utilities/otbexpat - libexpat1-dev
Utilities/otbossim - libossim-dev
Utilities/otbmuparser - libmuparser-dev
Utilities/otbkml - libkml-dev,libboost-graph-dev
Utilities/tinyxmllib - libtinyxml-dev (not used in debian/control)

Utilities/otbsiftfast ??
Utilities/otbopenjpeg - AFAICT, If GDAL is built with openjpeg driver
then this
directory is not touched by OTB

       libgdal-dev (>= 1.10.0),
         libgeotiff-dev,
         libexpat1-dev,
         libopenthreads-dev,
         libboost-graph-dev,
         libkml-dev,
         libmuparser-dev,
         libopencv-dev,
         libossim-dev,
         libfftw3-dev,

I am not sure about this approach in dealing with your license issues
on debian.

Maybe someone will have a better idea or there is no way other than
including
every licenses.
