Dear debian gis list

I'm Giacomo Fontanelli from Florence (Italy).

I'm 36 y.o. and I work on remote sensing of the environment for an italian research institute.

I used to use very often qgis on windows 7 and seldom also on Ubuntu.

Unfortunately I changed from Ubuntu to Mint based on Debian (Mint Maya LMDE) and, due to my weak knowledge of the Linux kernel I'm unable to install qgis 1.8.0. Lisboa on my PC.

Can I have some suggestions?
