I agree with this too.

DebianGIS is far wider than just GRASS. And, while for the insiders is just an
historical detail, for those outside the blend the name is way misleading. I've
heard lots of people saying "but that's just GRASS, I'm not involved with it";
and me replying "don't worry, it's general GIS, post your request there".

Agreed. AFAICT the filters on lists.d.o are more efficient than the ones on
alioth.

I wholeheartedly second the creation of debian-gis@lists.debian.org .

However, maybe the associated -dev/-commits/-scm/-... should stay on Alioth?
It's mainly packaging matters (commits and tags, I'd say), but it would be
good if it was renamed to debian-gis-*@lists.a.d.o as well. Ah, IMVHO.
