fwiw one of the things I like the most about GRASS is that
the MLs are remarkably flame-free.


anyway to answer the question Mac OSX (as a real UNIX) is better
supported. After 27 years as a UNIX-only program we're still
wrinkling out the strange voodoo which must be accomplished to
the make the MS Windows experience as pain free as possible.
Luckily because it's all plain ANSI-C that's not as much of a
nightmare as it could have been & we're about 90-95% there.

And of course Linux is the best supported (as this is what
almost all of the developers primarily use), but perhaps tackle
one learning curve at a time..
