Still doubtful about a possible roadmap. IMHO a basic live-dvd could use
the existing framework of live-helper as packaged on lenny/sid and dealt with on
http://debian-live.alioth.debian.org/ The basic packages can be integrated
with not-free but distributable data and tools in packaged or not
packaged forms. The whole result could be hosted on osgeo and possibly
some autobuilding script could be run to maintain an up-to-date image
starting from testing. If people would use ubuntu instead that should only
be considered a different flavor, with the same basic stuff.
