finally I find the time to answer to this thread. Sorry for delay. I have
been travelling a lot within the last few weeks meaning that I had rarely
the opportunity (and time) to read and answer emails.

Jon, I thank you very much that you are willing to take the primary
maintainance for gdal. I really hope that I will come back to a more
active role in debian-gis again. The chances are good because I will have
a long vacation starting from tomorrow but I am really not sure about it.
