As you may be aware, we are in toolchain freeze and the release team has asked toolchain package maintainers[1] to stop uploading these packages, which includes gcc. So unless the bug report is very critical, the fix for the said bug _might not_ be uploaded. And so it may be a good idea to go ahead with the workaround.
