Wannadoo et Linux

Greetings and apologies for the English - I'm an Englishman trying to set up
an ISP connection in Paris, running Debian 2.2.  I've been trying via
Wannadoo and getting socket errors from fetchmail after downloading two a
few messages.  Does anyone know if there is a problem with Linux and
Wannadoo?  Or of any information that would help me get this set up right?

Please could you send replies direct to me - I haven't subscribed to this
list - my French is just not good enough yet.
