Je suis d'accord mais ce n'est pas moi qi ai coupe... le log s'arrête là!
Au fait j'utilise ppp-pam (comme suggéré dans les doc et par dselect)
j'ai essayé aussi en changeant le fichier /etc/pam.d/ppp comme suggéré dans un mail
sur debian-user par:

auth required /usr/lib/security/pam_pwdb.so shadow nullok
auth required /usr/lib/security/pam_nologin.so
account required /usr/lib/security/pam_permit.so
