Bug#1038940: RM: fonts-liberation2 -- ROM; obsoleted by fonts-liberation (>= 1:2.1.5-2~)
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: ftp.debian.org@packages.debian.org
Usertags: remove
X-Debbugs-Cc: fonts-liberation2@packages.debian.org
Control: affects -1 + src:fonts-liberation2
Hi,
as announced on debian-devel [1], Liberation fonts v1 have been
abandoned upstream and Liberation fonts v2 are the only maintained
version - along with the Liberation Sans Narrow font which has been
extracted out of the v1 releases.
It does thus not make sense anymore to have the v1 fonts packaged
separately n Debian and let them block the "fonts-liberation" package
name, with the prefered version of the fonts moved out into the
"fonts-liberation2" package.
With the latest upload, I have thus let the v2 font take over the
src:fonts-liberation package name, providing both fonts-liberation and
fonts-liberation2 binary packages, the latter being a transitional
dummy package depending on the further.
So, so src:fonts-liberation2 package is now obsolete and should get
removed from Debian unstable (and testing).
Thank you!
Cheers,
- Fabian
