When I install ttf-xfree86-nonfree-syriac, I get following error while
starting X:

Could not init font path element /var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType, removing from list!

Hence no TrueType fonts installed from Debian packages are available to X
server any more.  This problem does not affect many newer applications
(KDE3, Gtk2, OOo), but it affects plain X apps and Gtk1 apps.

This problem is not related to #213883.  I fixed hints file and
re-registered all fonts.  Symlinks are correct, but problem I described
remains.

When I 'defoma-font purge-all' fonts or uninstall package, TT fonts are
again available to X.
