My onlyconcern here would be the risk of misunderstanding: we don't ask them to rename their entire project, aprticularly the internal name of the font. As Rogério mentioned, compatibility with existing documents is important. I would present our dilemna as something like "we are in the process of renaming the package and are considering dropping linux from teh package name, to avoid confusion to our users that are using non Linux-based environments such as Debian Hurd or kFreeBSD ports". But, still, showing that we will go the way of naming the package "fonts-libertine"..
