As briefly discussed quite some time ago, I submitted a talk for DebConf11 (July 24-31, Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina) with "Bits from the fonts packaging team". So, in order to avoid turning it into "Bits from Bubulle about fonts", I'd like to elaborate the talk's content in this mailing list with you folks. I usually start working on my talks by throwing out ideas more or lessa randomly in the wild. Somemay turn into a few slides, someonly in 1 or 2 words on a slide. So, in order to start this work, here is what I can come to, in about 10 minutes thinking randomly about what I'd like to say. Of course, many things are probably missing...or are just full crap...or whatever..:-) So, let's turn this into something usable..:-). I start collecting your suggestions, then we'll try to order this into something structured and, then, we'll be left with slides writing and "who gives the talk" decision..:) My random ideas: Team coverage - fonts - tools Licenses - introduce OFL - talks about vague, imprecise licenses VCS use Team members - DDs, DMs, others Packaging design - source v3 - dh7 minimal rules - font packaging policy Migrations underway - defoma drop - source v3+dh7 minimal - package renaming Counts - ttf/otf source packages (count of binary) - bitmapped font source packages --
