Also new generation TeX engines can make use of TrueType/OpenType fonts. So do we still need ttf2pt1 or ttf2pt1-chinese? Apparently the other orphaned packages are fonts and input-related items. IIRC Arne had adopted and is maintaining some of Anthony's packages. Maybe he (or someone else in the team with Chinese skills) could look into it?
