i'm a newbie in Debian but i have worked with linux (suse) 8 years ago.
i give you a link to a very secure firewall.

there is a stable fw script. you only must delete the whitespaces at the 
end of every line, because the script is otherwise not working bzw. you 
have no connect to the internet. then you must save it as ip-up.local 
and make it executeable as root. thats it. the ports you need you must 
open. with this script you have internet connection for the whole 
network to the internet but all ports from the internet are closed.
