Take a look at http://www.znyx.com. They do some nice NICs (not too cheap tho)
They do etherchannel to switches, load balancing and have high availabilty 
stuff as well, most of it built into the driver (FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris).

Have had good performance with their NICs etherchannled to a Cisco switch.
