Just a suggestion....

I also have a "live CD" based firewall/gateway disk and found out that
setting up the config stuff and firewall script on a floppy is pretty handy!
Use a simple script that asks a few questions about the network setting and
a PERL script that builds the firewall rule set... all wrote to a floppy.
One big advantage is that you can preconfigure different stuff and change
"on the fly" (like if you want to set more restrictions on the network
during the day, or while you are gone, different users or something?).
