There was some talk about using Emdebian tools for live but there has
been little interest elsewhere.

TDebs are not on the way. TDebs have stalled and what work was done is
now out of date.

It's likely that the Emdebian TDebs will be dropped after the Wheezy
release as TDebs are incompatible with the upcoming merge of Emdebian
Grip into Debian.
