Sadly, we do not have a GCC4.4 powerpc cross toolchain, it needs to be
fixed first.
You can check current unstable status[1]. I am mostly maintaining and
working towards ARM, but also trying to have other architectures. I'll
try to take a look to powerpc the following days. I have some useful
bits at my site[2]

Actually, we do build and help maintaining cross toolchains, but
currently we fill the bugs against gcc-X.Y packages, because building
a cross toolchains it should be standard and all the magic happens in
the gcc/binutils/kernel/libc packages.

This might change in future if we start uploading to Debian.
