Re: debconf-src, source package configuration with debconf

I understand I have been excessively obscure in my previous message.
Your answer has been very valuable nonetheless, but I guess writing code
is the only way I can dissipate your concerns without sucking up your
time pointlessly.

In the meantime, while I know this will answer them partially at best,
please let me clarify that Debconf-src uses debconf only as an engine,
and a convenient way to ship some of the templates (the system database
is accessed read-only so we can use them). Also, debconf-buildpackage is
intended to be used to obtain customized binary packages from the
regular Debian source. You are right that it would be foolish to use it
for a Debian upload, and my manpages now stress this.

Please let me clarify, too, that I'm not on crack :-) On the other hand,
my post has been quite inappropriate, and I would like to apologize for
this.

I will discuss debconf-src on debian-devel, where it belongs, when I
have more stuff to demonstrate, and elaborate on the big picture at this
occasion. Then I will propose my patches here.

Thanks for your answer and please excuse the noise.
