Nah, you shouldn't: embedded linux is nothing more than a normal Linux
system, but only smaller... It's also more fun to play with >:)

You just make and configure as you used to, just add the correct
CROSS_COMPILATION prefix:
$ make ARCH=ppc CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux-uclibc- oldconfig
$ make ARCH=ppc CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux-uclibc- dep
$ make ARCH=ppc CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux-uclibc-
