yes but most of the script use in debian edu can be removed as 
fusiondirectory is deployable easyly by config management systems and i 
having a webservice for the next major version will enable to provision 
FusionDirectory wihtout any script.

of course as we completely rewrote and cleaned the code and schema, its 
natural. 

But the process is completely transparent and documented here 
http://documentation.fusiondirectory.org/en/documentation_admin and its 
not so hard i have migrated more than 10 instance currently.
