I think at least the changelogs from the -edu-* packages would be helpful; they'd add some context to the diffstats. Full debdiffs will be too large to reach the list, although I suspect a chunk of the size is filterable (e.g. the removal of a .svg file and addition of another, documentation-only changes, etc).

Well, we've always nacked introducing new binary packages in the past. You mention that it was in squeeze, but I can't see the packages in the
main archive (only for jessie / sid).

hm, seems the archive is right and my memory is wrong. So we only had that
package in our squeeze release and at that time in sid too...

I'm not sure we really intended the "only affects -edu" exception to extend to new packages; thoughts from other team members welcome though.

Didn't the above change already get NACKed at least once?

I think so yes. Would a reupload with these changes dropped be more
acceptable?

The perl4libs changes at least look fine. I guess most of the rest should be okay too, albeit a little noisy.
