Yes, there is simply not enough room on the DVD to fit both KDE and
Gnome.  This will probably remain so until we start using dual-layer DVD
images or Blueray. :)

But the remaining issues sound more like a problem with the
education-desktop-gnome task list, so I reassign it to that package.
