I think exim is the default in debian, so as long as it works fine and there is no other reason to switch I would prefer exim. But I am not a mail services expert and just had a quick look.

True, exim is default in Debian. But that is comparable to Debian installing Gnome by default, not KDE: It is still Debian[1] even if using a different (Debian-provided) MTA.

Personally I never used exim, though. I always use Postfix, also for satellite systems.

[1] You can use a non-default MTA and still be a Pure Debian Blend.
