I fail to see how testing the install routines would help understand the parts deliberately silenced from the user experience.

That is OK, as I had no hope of you gaining such insights from my suggestion. I just got the impression that you do not have any recent hands on experience with how Debian Edu work, and suspect it is a good idea for you to get such experience. If you already have such hands on experience, or believe you do not need such hands on experience, both are fine with me. :)

I think I understand your point now. Thanks for the concern and the suggestion. :-)

You are right that I have no recent hands-on experience with Debian Edu. As a matter of fact I never had much hands-on experience with Debian Edu!

Until af few years ago (more precisely april 2008[1]) I closely examined sources of Debian-edu packages as part of my involvement in this project. Since then I try to work only on parts where it does not matter if Debian-Edu is a Debian Pure Blend or not.

(I carefully wrote "if" in last sentence above: I have no interest in discussing purity percentages).

[1] In april 2008 it became clear to me that Debian Edu works by different principles than Debian itself - e.g. Debian Policy is less important: http://bugs.debian.org/311188
