[Bug 1284] TC don't boot through with 3COM NIC

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1284

------- Additional Comments From rgx@gmx.de 2008-04-10 17:52 -------
Thank you for your help. However the issue stays unsolved. These are some
clarifications:

- There are approx. 10 NICs of the same type. Non of them works with the new
LTSP (Skolelinux 3.0), all work with the old (Skolelinux 2.0). When I exchange
the NIC (replace by DLink), the client will boot wit the new LTSP as well.

- The PXE boot process runs until initrd.img is loaded. Last line reads Ready.
- The kernel delivered is 2.6.18-4.
- I tried the acpi=off - no success.
- I added 3c95x module to the modules file (also tried options debug=4 and
hw_checksums=0). From a Mini-ITX console I checked that the module is loaded.
However: same effects. Could the hardware signature (lspci) be missing in the
code for the module?

Until now this issue took me approx. 8 hours of testing. The deploy of
additional systems is being postponed by a month. I consider sending one sample
nic over to norway... ;)
