It was caused by running "touch tasks/common; make debian/control" (for the
debian-edu package) while debian/changelog still had "UNRELEASED" as the
section.

The debian-edu source in svn should never have UNRELEASED as the
distribution in debian/changelog, as it is used to build the CDs and
DVDs, and need to generate the list of packages intended for the
images.

I noticed that this was the case in the past but to prevent newcomers
from putting UNRELEASED as target distribution (as it happened now)
this should be put into the docs.

You are right. The proper fix is to change UNRELEASED to unstable.

An alternative fix that came to my mind would be to install a

   /etc/cdd/source.list.UNRELEASED

on the host where you are running the script. That would lead to
reasonable results while it fits the common practice to mark a package
as not yet released in the changelog.

Kind regards

         Andreas.
