The first problem that I have seen is:

/var/lib/maildirs/<user> 

is not created so that exim can not deliver the email. 

I created:
mkdir /var/lib/maildirs/asc 
chown asc.asc /var/lib/maildir/asc
chmod a+rwx /var/lib/maildir/asc

Mail is deliverd.
