etch is released, terra coming soon

Hi fellowers

Today etch got released and it is a great day for debian. I hope you are all
at some of the various etch release partys all over the world.
However looking back to our own release goals that means that we, according to
our own aims, should follow soon. Therefore I would like to ask everyone to
make their final changes to the terra release and the archive.
If you have any packages which should go into debian-edu 3.0, please upload
them ASAP. If you need to do your last feature changes to the debian-edu*
packages, please do so, but be aware of the fact that a feature freeze might
follow every day from now, as soon as the daily builds are stable enough.
If you have some time to test things, please help out, I know time is rare and
I will also try to push myself to provide you all with a release guideline
and try to coordinate things as best as I can.

The plans are as the following:

Next days testing the daily builds etch-test/local

Once etch-test/local is stable and follows the debian-edu needs it gets synced
to etch/local.

When etch/local is stable enough the first release candidate will be
published.

According to the tests of this release candidate another candidate will be
released or we directly go to the first release.

After the release we will be prepared to release point releases for terra
(3.0) and try to adjust our development cycle to the next release.

Afterwards we party and sleep.

I do not provide any time guidelines for this to happen, because I know that
it relies on the time of the volunters (including myself), but I hope we can
all work hard on this to make it happen soon.

Thanks for your attention.

Cheers
Steffen
