New charts from Skolelinux Schools

Dear list,

some of you might remember a graph displaying the growing amount of
schools using Skolelinux (this script was originally written by Tommy
Gildseth):

http://skolelinux.no/slschools/barchart.php?lang=en

(also try to append stuff like &mode=line, novalues)

Petter inspired me to come up with a histogram by countries. Now, here
is a first result:

http://skolelinux.no/slschools/countrychart.php?lang=en

(you may append something like &mode=unsorted, bars, novalues)

Also, I made a cartogram that displays these bars within a world map,
taking each country's average coordinates as base point. The result is
not too satisfying yet, because some bars overlap:

I tried to switch to discs (r ~ sqrt(N)), but this is no solution:

http://skolelinux.no/slschools/cartogram?lang=en&mode=discs

But hopefully this makes it more attractive to schools all over the
world to sign up!

Very soon we could abandon xplanet and create maps with PHP (anyway as
for the world map).

What do you think?
Regards
Ralf.
