debian-edu etch test CDs support encrypted file systems
I'm happy to announce that the debian-edu etch test CDs support
encrypted file systems. This feature was new in debian-installer
beta3 released a few days ago, and the feature is also included on the
recenly built etch and etch-test CD images for debian-edu.
To fetch the latest etch-test image using rsync, this command can be
used:
rsync -vt \
ftp.skolelinux.org::skolelinux-etch-test/debian-edu-i386-binary-1.raw \
etch-test-i386-1.raw
Instructions for using the encrypted partitioning is available from
<URL:http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/PartmanCrypto>. The
feature is still in development and might still contain errors and
security problems. So use it only for testing for now. :)
I believe this feature is cool enough for us to prepare a press
release, after a few more have confirmed that it worked for them. Any
volunteer to write such press release?
Friendly,
