Will there be a Rev01 for SLX 2.0 (Sarge)?
Dear list,
today I had to admit that currently post-install-steps are very
difficult to newbies:
In order to update kernel 2.6 (necessary to recognize viarhine NIC), one
has to enter
# export http_proxy=http://10.0.2.2:3128
# vi /etc/apt/sources.list
// now do some changes
and only now we can use the comfortable apt-commands.
Probably other users have holes in their firewalls and can do without
proxy. However I suggest to have ready made scripts like
apt-setup-http-proxy.sh
apt-setup-http-direct.sh
apt-setup-cdrom.sh
These scripts could either edit or replace the sources.list accordingly.
I admit that I also had problems with starting X for the first time - no
mouse pointer /dev/ts0 (???) and no screen found. But this is yet
another story. I just need to remember ...
Regards
Ralf
P.S.: Instead filing a bug report, I ask your opinion here. Maybe I can
upload such scripts via svn (d.s.n)...
