Yes, you are missing his comment on IRC, where he specified that
'release' == 'beta3' in that context.  So it isn't too late for etch,
but it is too late for beta3.

Sure.  But I no longer remember how to do that, so I planned to edit
the script manually when testing.  Please go ahead and make a local
package with the fix included.  Remember to get ext2resize-udeb
included as well.
