Weekly report week 3 and 4, and next step



* Meetings

- 17. January. Meeting about centralised operation with the ICT-staff
      at The Municipality of Hurum.
- 19. January. Meeting about using free software (with FreeNX,
      OpenOffice etc.) in a centralised operation. The meeting was
      initiated by the politicians in The Municipality in Nittedal.
- 25. January. Experiences with centralised operating
      Skolelinux. Meeting with Telecomputing that does this in large
      installations.
- 26. January. Meeting with LinuxLabs about an ITIL-guide for they who
      operate Skolelinux in centralised operations.
- 28-30. January. Developer gathering. 

* Work

- Translated the article about thin client tradeoffs to Norwegian:

- Helping with gathering 85 participants at the Conference about free
  software with Halden ICT-forum.
- Wrote 5 summaries after meetings with people that operate an
  centralised operation with (enterprise) Skolelinux
- Wrote a whole lot about Learning Management Systems.  The Ministry
  of Education and Research want an discussion about the relevance.
- Gave some feedback on the PhD work from Martin Michlmayr. 
- Did some motivation work to get the OpenOffice-translators to get
  the job done.
- Wrote an article, and sent it to LINUXMagasinet
- Some communication with journalists. Especially the consumer
  inspectors at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation
- Gave feedback on the "Ulsrud-report" to Markus Gamenius
- Wrote some letters to some Municipalities and private companies
  about why free software is better than proprietary. I also sent
  unbiased research that supports and explains how proprietary
  software gives no guaranties what so ever in the purpose to not be
  held accountable. 
- Mailing about the new information folder
- Mentoring some of the student groups, and also some of their
  mentors.

* Next step

- Keep up the good work with centralised operations with enterprise
  Skolelinux
- 2.  February Wednesday. Conference about free software with Halden
      ICT-forum. It's over 85 person that is invited.
- 7.  February Monday. UNESCO conference. How to promote freedom of

- 8.  February Tuesday 2005. Workshop about making the
      ITIL-documentation. 
- 15. February. EFN gonna have an lunch speech at The Ministry of
      modernisation 11:00. Theme: «Intellectual property in the
      information society», and probably something about patents.
- 15-16. ICT-forum at Lillehammer with Gyldendal
- Making a leadership guide for how to facilitate open source projects
- Following up the question about making Debian Edu weekly news (VB)
- Postponed until further notice () at ITU about IKT-ABC (www.iktabc.no)
