Re: Nagios Warnings (Critical)

Dear List,

this question has been posted on our German users list.

"On tjener, I find this mail in root's mailbox every 30 minutes (see below). What is its meaning? How can I stop nagios from sending me this message in case it can be ignored? "

Can't tell myself - so how about you?

Just like it says, this message is sent because the LDAP port (389) cannot be opened. Normally on a main server it is open.

If you think this is not a useful piece of information, it is probably best to turn it off. Open a web browser, enter http://tjener.intern/nagios, log in using nagiosadmin as user name and skolelinux as password - unless of course you have changed these. Then find the service in question, click the link and on the right hand side find the link that says "Disable notifications for this service", click on it and answer the questions in the web page.

However, there will be a reason for LDAP not answering. The prudent thing to do is to find out why. If you just turn off the notification you're rid of the symptom, but not the cause.
