Might the confile upgrade be enhanced so that it is based on
individual settings, similar as outlined in the use cases on
http://freedesktop.org/Software/CFG ?
There seems to be a section on how a smoth transition to the
next generation configuration handling could be made under
"dcontrol suggestions" on the wiki page for the Debian Control Center.
