This is the reason for the #rrggbb=i options of ppmtolss16. Color 7 is
used for the foreground of plain text by syslinux, so you make white or
some other nice color use that color slot, and make black use the slot
for color 15, which is used for the background. If you use colorised
text in your syslinux text, you can also assign suitable colors to those
slots.
