dpkg documentation and howto for the maintscript interface

Hi,

A few weeks^Wmonths ago, I started trying to attain a deeper
understanding the dpkg maintscript interface; I kept some notes which
I've now organized into what is now a not-so-short document describing
the internal behavior of dpkg, its intent, mechanisms, properties and
the maintainer script interface.  I think much of dpkg is poorly
understood by the developer community, which is unfortunate, since
package management is one of the most defining characteristics of the
project.

I hope to continue polishing it, and eventually release it to the
developers at large.  Before doing so, I request review by the dpkg
team, for factual correctness eg. about the behavior, mechanisms,
propertiess, and my underderstanding (glorified guesses rooted in
common sense) especially about the intent of dpkg design.
