Bug#216955: dpkg hangs

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.10.15
Severity: normal

from ps afx:
27800 pts/5 S 0:14 | \_ aptitude
28112 pts/5 R 3:49 | \_ /usr/bin/dpkg --force-depends
--force-remove-essential --remove galeon

and from top:
28112 root 17 0 12708 11m 520 R 95.1 3.2 4:14.11 dpkg

I'm not sure what's going wrong, but dpkg has hung twice on me now while
trying to remove packages.

After experimenting some with apt-get, I am utterly unable to reproduce
this problem, though.

Let me know what I can do to help.
