ext3. I've just updated the kernel from Linux 2.4.19 to 2.4.21.
GNUstep installs the time zone files by unpacking a tar archive:
after-install::
cp $(TIMEZONE_ARCHIVE) $(resourcedir); \
cd $(resourcedir); \
[...]
rm -rf NSTimeZones; \
tar -xf $(TIMEZONE_ARCHIVE); \
[...]
I use tar 1.13.25 from alpha.gnu.org. Here's a fragment of the
archive's listing:
