Note also that this is the sort of problem that sash was designed to
address -- and that we don't have a lot of field experience with sash.
If anyone tries sash in this circumstance and finds it lacking, please
contact me.  [I'm not worried about unpleasant interface -- I'm worried
about things outright not being possible.]
