I got your point.  Come to think of it.... I state as "(over)simplified"

Then, what do you think about ./configure arguments.

Currently (exact one):
./configure --build=<var>x86_64-linux-gnu</var> --prefix=/usr \
  --includedir=${prefix}/include --mandir=${prefix}/share/man \
  --infodir=${prefix}/share/info --sysconfdir=/etc \
  --localstatedir=/var --libexecdir=${prefix}/lib/<var>package</var> \
  --disable-maintainer-mode --disable-dependency-tracking

But newbie like me should only need to know:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
