Bug#520605: release-notes: Notes should specify how to identify non-Debian packages in section 4.2.5.

Package: release-notes
Severity: normal

It seems I was not quite successful in removing these packages before the upgrade. VLC, M
Player and dvdbackup all have problems playing most AVI files (VLC only) and accessing
DVDs (all programmes), so it seems I have some wring libraries still installed. I would
like to know how you can identify packages from outside sources

1. before taking any other steps
2. once you have commented out or removed the outside sources from /etc/apt/sources.list
3. left polluting the system after the upgrade (my situation)
