Perhaps tomorrow some company like Oracle decides to buy GitLab Inc.,
and then Oracle GitLab stops the current Freemium business model
effective immediately.

Would anyone be able to provide security support for the stale free 
version, or would salsa be shutdown with the next CVE?

For anything in Debian, the package sources in Debian would not 
disappear when a repository (or salsa) disappears.
