Please don't drop gdisk - it has special features not found in other 
tools, e.g. for migrating between formats and creating "hybrid" MBRs: 
See its manpage about the "recovery & transformation menu".

If noone else steps up, I might look after it, but I prefer if someone 
else does it (I have my hands full already).
