I mirror the repositories on my own publicly-accessible Git server.
Hopefully that's good enough.  :)

Oh, certainly.  (Well, like Neil, I've never heard of git request-pull
before this thread and have never seen anyone use it, but if someone did,
it would be an interesting learning opportunity.)
