Since Harald wrote he is using the external package I see no evidence
for your assumption. Harald is effectively preventing us from enhancing
a Debian package - or at least checking whether there is room for
enhancement after a technical evaluation.

I do not remember that disputing potential enhancement of a Debian
package has put any shame on anybody. (But may be my memory is weak.)

+1

I even fail to see any mix here. There are people who try to turn this
into a social problem (which makes me really nervous admittedly).

I consider debian-devel as a honest forum where problems are properly
discussed. Vague guessing should be done rather somewhere else.

Kind regards
