In a default installation of debian 5.0 the home directories
of users, including root, are world and group readable. May I
suggest that the default permissions are user-only readable.

I am using Debian/GNU Linux Lenny 5.0, kernel 2.6.26-1-686

Hi,

this is a feature not a bug. It also has been discussed several times on the
debian-boot mailinglist, thus closing.

regards,
